Post 14

Off the coast of India a ferry was caught in severe weather. The ferry was holding 250 passengers with 18 crew. 18 people were rescued by a fishing boat. One of them was the capitan who said he feared that Indonesian people generally can't swim and that he saw around 150 people jump off the sinking vessel. the 700 ton ship left for the port of parepare. The search for the missing 232 people has been hampered by the violent seas and terrible weather. Officials are stating a cause was the the regulations on boat passenger size isn't enforced very strong so overcrowding could have been a cause. Boats are a major part of transportation in the Archipelago of Indonesia. The population of 235 million people doesn't help the overcrowding problem either. I think that the country needs to be very firm with passenger count on ships.

Coleman

Today Norm Coleman filed a lawsuit challenging his apparent loss to Al Franken. He allegedly says that some votes were counted more than others and all of the re counts messed up the election. Coleman made his speech with cheering and clapping and the background today in front of many people. Coleman has been around forever and knows what a senator should be ( he has the experience). Al Franken is just a comedian with no political background. Minnesota is still trying to recover from the humalitation of electing Jessee Ventura. Minnesota just dug them selves into a super deep hole by choosing a dumb comedian who isn't even funny.

The lady called the police and she talked with her husband again. When she called she received conflicting stories and she then becamse suspicious. When the police arrived they questioned the man about his stories. The man later admitted to killing his 4 year old son. He said it was because he had four thousand dollars in backed child support checks. The man told the police where the child was. The man was just taken into custody today for the murder of his four year old son.

The war in Gaza

Israeli fighters entered Gaza todya to stop a missle attack from the Palestinian militants. These two countries have been warring for centuries and this new conflict shows no sign of slowing down. The Israeli troops just started the offensive manuervers after eight days of bombings from the Palestinian army. Thousands of troops accompanied by many tanks and helicopter gunships entered the highly populated area. This conflict just starts a new global mess that the U.S. will probabally play world police in, like they always do. The U.S. will probabally side with one side creating the other to wage war against our country. This new chapter of middle eastern conflicts just hurts the lives of many innocnet people and it also hurts the wallets of Americans.

jolly saint nick saves the day

In Pharr Texas a nine year old girl wrote a letter to santa as a school assignment and it saved the well being of her 10 year old sister. The girl wrote on her wish list that she wanted her relative to stop touching her older sister. The police will not release the letter which they say is evidence. Andres enrique cantu who works at an alternative highschool is said to have touched them wrong when they slept or did homework. The mother was questioned but she said she had no idea of the acts. There were no reports of Cantu acting this way at the school he was employed at and he was arrested at school on friday. Mr. Cantu was placed on a total bail of 350,000$ which basically means he will go to prison. This simple little school assignment may have saved this girl life which we must say thanks to Jolly old saint nick and the teacher for assigning the work. What this girl did was simply amazing, just to even have the courage to write that is amazing. This really shows the true power of the christmas spirit.

Fighting for your country

A republican senator from South Carolina named Lindsey Graham, who is a national guard reserve, is now serving for our country in Kabul Afghanistan. He enrolled in ROTC in 1973 and has been serving as a military lawyer ever since. He was working in Kabul training U.S. lawyers and judges that will be working in Afghanistan. Graham is very respected because in 2005 he and Hilary Clinton worked with tricare to try and get more soldiers insurance. About 25% of the U.S. soldiers don't have insurance. Graham and other U.S. officals including President Obama have concluded that this war in Afghanistan is going to get a lot tougher. There have been more deaths in Afghanistan in 2008 than there has been in any year after the invasion. Senator Graham is doing a great job fufilling his duties not only as a senator but as a membera s the U.S. army helping for the betterment of our country. I think what he is doing is a great example for other political senators to follow because he is supporting what the new president is planning on doing and that provides hope for the future, and that is what we desperatly need.

Senator tries to sell his seat

Rod B. A senator from Illinois was arrested on corruption charges when he tried to sell the vacant U.S. senate seat which was held by president Obama. Rod was chargerd with conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, and solicitation of bribery. This action creates negative attention to Mr. Obama. Rod was trying to sell the seat to the highest bidder, almost playing a game with them. This is a perfect example of corrupt democracy and how it needs to be stopped. This man is facing up to 70 years in prison for the crime he commited. Luckily Barack isn't at all associated with this man so The president is not questioned about his involvement. I think that this man just ruined his life and Chicago's senatoral reputation for a long time. This is a great example of old school Chicago corruption. The Government was quick to act on this situation and I am glad it was stopped.
